Request a Reviewer

After all, reviews are what we are all about, so of course we want to hear from you if you have a show you’d like us to consider for review. You can read about the types of reviews we complete here or scroll to the bottom of the page to request a reviewer!

Where Do We Review?

The majority of our coverage is in South East Queensland. We are always trying to expand that area, so get in touch and tell us about your show, and if we have someone in the area, we’ll see if they can make it.

What Do We Review?

Absolutely anything that is considered art (yes even subjectively!), We will come to your musicals, plays, circus, dance concerts, fringe performances, art galleries and everything in between!

We will also dip our toe into theatre related books and even the occasional film. Put simply, if you think you have something that we might be interested in, just tell us about it. We will always consider every invite we receive.

How Do We Decide What Gets Reviewed?

It is purely schedule based if a reviewer is available to attend your show, they will attend! If they can't attend feel free to send through a press release or interview request so we can provide some coverage on your show!

How Far In Advance Should We Contact You?

It’s never too early to invite us. Whilst most of our team probably only plan a few weeks ahead, some will plan a few months if a show takes their interest. We will also take review requests for shows happening in the next week or two, but we can’t often fill such late requests, it really depends if a reviewer finds they have some spare time and the show takes their interest. Never be afraid to ask, we will always try for you.

Our Show is Ready, We Want to Invite You, What do we do?:

Send an email to dramadispatch@gmail.com with the show name, producer, location, available dates and times! We will then contact you if a reviewer is available to attend, from there you make 2 tickets available for our reviewers to attend and then sit back and relax! It's that easy!

Review: Company - Phoenix Ensemble

Written by Mark Rickell "Company, Sondheim’s sixth Broadway musical, was his breakthrough to serious credibility. It received 14 Tony Award nominations, a record at the time. It’s a minimally plotted collection of songs and stories (more like a revue than a traditional musical) about a single man, his married friends, and several girlfriends. Robert wrestles with relationships and commitment. The show’s title has multiple facets, all important to appreciating its complexity. “Company” is the opposite of solitude and loneliness. It means being surrounded by friends and loved ones. It’s also the tightly knit ensemble of actors performing a show.” - Rick Pender, Everything Sondheim Company at Phoenix Ensemble was exactly as Rick has suggested above. A tight knit, and truly excellent, ensemble of actors performing this show. Director Tammy (Sarah Linde) and assistant director Luke (O’Hagan) are responsible for the set design and the simplicity of form and function they have elected ...

Review: Freshblood Festival - Vena Cava

Written By Thor Morrison Upcoming creatives need a place to experiment, to prosper, to explore, and even to sometimes miss the mark. It is essential that spaces that allow this to happen exist, especially in a world obsessed with perfectionism. The Freshblood Festival is an annual event run by QUT Student Theatre Company Vena Cava, focused on young writers and performers, and it does just that. It provides a space for the new and upcoming creatives of Brisbane and surrounds to experiment, have fun, and create really exciting performances. Held at BackDock Arts in Fortitude Valley, and running over two consecutive weekends, it is a massive endeavour Vena Cava have given themselves. 14 independent shows, two play readings, and 8 music acts ensure that Freshblood has something for everyone to enjoy, and shows the variety and scale of the Festival itself. Drama Dispatch was able to attend most of the second weekend, seeing a total of seven shows and a play reading, and was greatly impresse...

Review: Equus - X Collective

Written by Gabriel Besa ‘Equus’ from The X Collective was a superb showcasing of drama and all things theatre. From the exquisitely put together lighting to the character portrayal of each of the actors, The X Collective knows how to put on a show.    ‘Equus’ is a play written by Peter Shaffer in 1973, where he was inspired after he heard a seventeen-year-old boy blind six horses in a small town in northern England. It then went on to win the Tony Award for Best Play. The play switches from past and present as it acts out previous events that lead up to Alan Strang’s current state. Through the psychiatric expertise of Martin Dysart, we see the importance each character had played against Alan Strang’s life.   The X Collective had meticulously placed this production in the Holy Trinity Hall as it provides a state of eeriness and mystery for the audience. Since the venue strays from the average theatre, portable lighting and set desi...
